Rainin’ Money Slot Review

GOSU GAME REVIEW

1X2Gaming, in June 2017, underwent a rebranding, becoming 1X2 Network and introducing Iron Dog Studio as an independent creative team. Iron Dog Studio now works at producing high-quality slot content certified by NMi Testing Labs. From the top of our heads, we do not think we have ever analyzed an Iron Dog game. So, this is a first for us. This studio released three reel-spinning titles in July 2023, and Rainin’ Money is their latest product, hitting online casino lobbies on the 25th of this month. In the first week following its debut, this slot is doing pretty well in multiple regions, entering the top fifty rankings in multiple ones and the top twenty in territories like India, Denmark, the Philippines, and Finland. Let us dive deep into this game and inform you if it is worth your while or deserves the pass label.

Theme & Design

As the name of this gaming product suggests, the theme here is paper money. Now, you would be surprised at how many reel-spinning titles utilize this motif, at least we were. Coins we expect as an element in slot machines, yet cash titles in such abundance are something that stunned us. When looking at the available sector data, we can conclude that around four hundred games have a paper money theme in some form or fashion, and aside from Rainin’ Money by Iron Dog Studio, other entries in this sub-genre that are doing super well include Cash Box from Pragmatic Play, and Games Global’s Break da Bank Again. That said, the games this one most reminded us of were Magic Money Maze from Pragmatic Play partner Reel Kingdom and Cash Streak by Endorphina. Both are fairly new releases featuring president symbols, people whose faces you will find on US bills.

The presentation here confused us if we are to be frank. The music incorporated seems like something out of a 1970s superhero movie or a tune that would fit in the Back to the Future series. The setting/backdrop of Rainin’ Money appears to be an older-looking city, with the camera panned up to the sky, which features overcast clouds. The sound effects mimic thunder, and when you hit winning combos in Rainin’ Money, the grid’s reels get engulfed in lightning effects. The game’s name stems from its bonus feature, where it literally begins to rain money. The visuals here are cartoony, painterly images. They boast vibrant colors, and the symbol designs have somewhat of a pop-arty style. Yet, we kind of feel that the presentation in this slot is a bit all over the place. It mixes too many things. For us, this blend did not totally work.

The gameplay interface in Rainin’ Money is the one you will find in other Iron Dog releases. You have the spin functions and the bet adjuster in the bottom right corner of your screen, the balance and bet info in the middle, and the settings options on the left side of this bottom black panel. If you click the coin stack icon on its right, it will open the wager modifier in the middle of this configuration.

Specs & Gameplay

Rainin’ Money is a medium to high variance spinner with an RTP of 96.13%, which can range from site to site, and a max payout of x5,000 your stake. The game has twenty paylines, and a betting range that goes as low as $0.1 per spin to $100 per reel rotation. No hit frequency gets listed anywhere for this title, whose gameplay plays out on a 5×3 layout, where only the highest win on a payline gets paid.

Wins in this reel-spinning creation happen when you hit three to five matching symbols on a defined grid line. The token used divides into your typical high-paying and low-paying ones. In the latter category, you have your standard 10 to A royals, paying up to x24 for five-of-a-kind combinations. On the premium side are four presidents, yielding rewards of x100 to x500 when five identical symbols from this batch hit the 5×3 grid on the same spin.

The wild, which substitutes all non-special tokens, pays out wins of x80, x200, and x500 for three, four, and five matching symbols, respectively. You also have two types of scatters in Rainin’ Money, usually appearing only on the first, third, and fifth reels.

Please note the Ante Bet feature of this game, where you play a fixed twenty-eight coins per spin, something that doubles your odds of entering the Rainin’ Money mode and costs x1.4.

Bonus Features

Scatters and Super Scatters trigger this slot’s bonus features. Scatters can land on reels one, three, and five, while Super Scatters only appear on reel five during the base game. However, they can get found on reels one, three, and five in the free spins round. The free spins feature here triggers with three scatters landed, and that grants you ten complimentary reel rotations, increasing your odds of activating the Rainin’ Money round. The mode starts with a storm, raining money from the storm cloud. That is nothing more than an exciting click’em mini-game that entails you collecting banknotes falling from the sky. You do so by hovering your mouse over them and clicking. These notes hide extra win opportunities, instant cash rewards, or bet multipliers, making it a delightful slot bonus experience.

GOSU Verdict

What can we say about Rainin’ Money by Iron Dog Studio? In our eyes, this is not a super-thrilling modern slot. Its maximum payout is decent at x5,000, and its RTP of 96.13% is acceptable for a medium to high variance spinner. Nevertheless, to us, this game lacks something. It feels a bit dull, with a presentation that is a cocktail of many things, but not in a good way. The bonus feature is Okay, but nothing that will blow your socks off. Overall, we would call Rainin’ Money average. It is not a bad slot to play, with the click’em round giving you a feeling of a sense of control. Though, we would not tell you to seek out this product, that is for sure.
