Yggdrasil’s Five Splitz Slots

GOSU GUIDE

Yggdrasil is a Swedish company that often gets highlighted at BTCGOSU, and we have reviewed a few of their games and even mentioned the topic of this article in a piece of content dedicated to split symbol slots. For those who do not know of Yggdrasil, we would like to inform you that this is actually an arm of Cherry AB. Hardcore online gamblers know that when a company has the letter AB attached to its name, that means it is a Swedish one, and that is the case here. Cherry is a gaming entity based in Stockholm which got founded in 1963. It made its name in the lottery sector and now also specializes in online games through its subsidiary Yggdrasil, which has crafted quite a positive reputation for itself.

Yggdrasil burst onto the interactive gaming landscape in 2014, and it has released around a hundred sixty titles to date. Five of these have been spinners implementing this provider’s proprietary mechanic called Splitz.

Splitz slots debuted in 2020 with the unveiling of Temple Stacks. Here is the deal with this game system which transfers a symbol into several smaller ones, which, in turn, boosts the number of ways to win. Five games distributed by Yggdrasil have this engine at the time of writing, two of which are collaborations with Boomerang and ReelPlay. Below, we tell you about all five, starting with the first to incorporate Splitz gameplay.

Temple Stacks Splitz

As promised, we begin with the very first Splitz game – Temple Stacks, which came out in January 2020, as an Aztec 5×3 slot with up to 248,832 win-ways. Its betting range is $0.10 to $100, with wins coming to the pace of a medium-high variance model and a 96.1% RTP. Temple Stacks Splitz has a hefty max win of x25,000, which translates into a win cap of $2.5 million. Its Splitz Mystery Stacks split into three to nine symbols in the base game and up to a dozen in the bonus round, which you activate by landing scatters – three to five.

The free spin mode in this title has four levels. These are – Steel, Bronze, Silver, and Gold, each giving away a different number of spins and Splitz. We should not forget to add that hybrid wilds/scatters add extra spins, enhancing payouts in Temple Stacks.

Neon Rush Splitz

Neon Rush Splitz came out in March 2020, so three months after Temple Stacks. Neon Rush is a neo-80s-inspired spinner with a synthwave soundtrack. It too has a five-reel, three-row grid, one with ten paylines, accepting wagers from $0.10 to $40 per spin. The RTP here stands at 96.3%, and the variance is high. The max exposure setting is x25,676, producing wins up to a million dollars.

As expected, the Splitz mechanic is the focus, and it transforms mystery symbols into up to five identical ones, enabling fifteen-of-a-kind wins. You too get a free spin mode, triggered by three to five scatters, giving away up to thirty on-the-house gaming rounds, where Splitz symbols reveal only wilds or jackpot icons. There are six fixed jackpots here, with the Ultra one paying x25,000.

Syncronite Splitz

The third Splitz product by Yggdrasil is this one, which trades jungle or neon themes for a luxurious Art Deco aesthetic. It complements this with jazz music and gaming entertainment that transpires on a six-reel layout with three to eight rows and up to 21,168 win-ways. You can make bets from $0.10 to $20 per spin in this game with a 96.0% RTP and a high variance math model. Its top prize is x64,000 your stake, for a maximum payout of £1,280,000.

As far as the Splitz mechanic goes, golden lions here split into up to eight matching icons and Synced Reels synchronize for mirrored symbols. At the time of its initial release, it got touted as a Yggdrasil spinner with high win potential that would supply loads of mid-size wins, taking it easy on gamblers’ bankrolls. Yggdrasil’s senior games strategist Jonas Strandman cited this title’s 27.34% hit rate as evidence of that. We should note that there is no free spin bonus here, something that we are sure may push away some from testing Syncronite.

Fruit Gemz Splitz

Fruit Gemz Splitz is a Boomerang Studios creation for Yggdrasil. If you do not know who this provider is, it is a not-so-famous Yggdrasil partner that has around forty slots in its arsenal, which entered the sphere in 2018, and is best known for its Lady Merlin spinners, not counting its two Splitz games and its Infinity Reels ones.

According to many, this is the least appealing entry in the Splitz series, featuring a generic fruit theme. Its visuals are pretty basic, and the soundtrack here is monotonous. The game implements a 3-4-4-4-3 grid or a 5×3 one with an extra row on top covering the middle three reels. The number of win-ways here reaches 19,773 ways to win. It offers bets from $0.10 up to an unspecified maximum, which likely depends on the site. Fruit Gemz Splitz has a below-average RTP of 95.5% and medium variance, only producing wins up to x888.

The Cash Coin Collect feature is an attraction here, awarding instant prizes in the base game, and in the Hold & Respin round, you can get the highest rewards in Fruit Gemz Splitz.

Return of the Valkyrie Splitz

Here we have another collaboration between Boomerang Studios, Yggdrasil, and ReelPlay. It is a Viking-themed romp with a hit frequency of 24.4, medium-high variance, an RTP that ranges but usually sits at 96.5%, and lists a max win of x5,000. It has the classic 5×3 symbol layout, with the number of win-ways going up to 15,552 in this slot, which accepts bets as high as $30, and ones as low as $0.30.

The core mode in Return of the Valkyrie Splitz is the Spin 10 Splitz Storm feature that marks Splitz Valkyrie positions over a ten-spin cycle. On the 10th round, framed positions reveal Splitz symbols, splitting into two to four identical tokens, including coins up to x888. Landing a Collect symbol with coins awards instant payouts, while six or more coins trigger the Hold & Respin round, where you get sticky coins and Collect tokens reset three respins. The game too has an optional Side Strike side bet that allows you to wager on red/green chip frequency for extra prizes.
