Thunderpick is an interesting crypto casino, deeply entrenched in the world of Esports. But we aren’t here to look at the details of their esports betting operations, but rather at their selection of casino games. Especially those games that fall under the distinction of Thunderpick Originals. These are casino games that are only available from this site.
Originals are usually produced by the casino itself, by their in-house teams. As is often the case, there isn’t much information available beyond a few mentions here and there that the casino produced the games themselves. No further explanations are offered, which isn’t too surprising given the size of the selection.
At the moment, that selection is somewhat small. It covers a select few crypto games, which is not surprising, as we noted before, the site is heavily geared towards eSports and betting instead. However, the casino has seen good ratings from players and gained good feedback on overall site performance in the BTCGOSU Thunderpick review, plus there’s enough promise for a broader gaming selection in the future. Let’s have a closer look.
What unique, proprietary Original Games can you play at Thunderpick
Limbo, Crash, Dice, Spin, and Plinko. The whole selection is limited to these five games. If you are familiar with crypto games, and originals in general, you know that this is the bare minimum. You’d be hard-pressed to find a smaller selection, other than the hundreds of online casinos that don’t offer any originals, of course.
How do these Originals then compare to the standard versions of these games? Are they better, the same, or even worse?
Limbo is a multiplier game. The Thunderpick version is not dissimilar from limbo versions found at other crypto casinos. Simply choose a multiplier you’re aiming for and the bet you’re willing to risk. And then you either win or lose.
Crash is very much delivered in the basic format. You have an option to use a light mode, which simply shows you a multiplier without any of the graphics. That’s about all there is to say about this Thunderpick original.
Dice comes with a burst mode, but otherwise you’re still betting on the same over or under outcome. This mode allows you to run several bets at once.
Spin is a game akin to Roulette. Bet on one of four options, and see which one pays out.
And that leaves us with Plinko. The Thunderpick offering is a more detailed version of the game than you’ll usually encounter. That’s not just limited to graphics, either, as there is an additional bonus game that can be activated. You get to choose your own risk and board size, too.
Which Thunderpick Originals are provably fair?
It’s hard to say. There is no mention of provably fair in the individual game details, though the site itself does have information about provably fair functionality. You have to do a fair bit of detective work to find out. What we noticed is that some games, though not all, have a hash present somewhere in the game window. Crash is one such example.
You can copy this hash and run it through the necessary tools to ascertain that each round is provably fair. You’ll find one such provably fair verifier here on BTCGOSU.
What game volatility can a player expect?
This isn’t specified. In fact, very little information is available on any of the games. You’re pretty much stuck to a general overview, which seems to be written in a hurry and without any details whatsoever to do with the game.
You’ll have to go with your gut on this one. The smaller the wins, the more likely that the volatility is low. For example, in crypto Crash games most wins seem to be in single digits. In others, like Limbo, you can see your chance of winning straight away, and can adjust it to your liking.
Specifications on game volatility would still go a long way, though.
Which cryptocurrencies can you use for playing Original Games at Thunderpick?
Thunderpick casino allows playing with several popular cryptocurrencies and a handful of fiats. The latter is of little interest to us, so here is the list of all cryptocurrencies you can currently use:
- Bitcoin (BTC)
- Ethereum (ETH)
- Litecoin (LTC)
- Tether (USDT)
- Solana (SOL)
- Tron (TRX)
- USD Coin (USDC)
- Ripple (XRP)
- Dogecoin (DOGE)
- Binance Coin (BNB)
- Cardano (ADA)
- Bitcoin Cash (BCH)
Do any of the Original Games feature auto-play functionality?
Auto-play or auto-bet is incorporated into all of the games. The level of it depends on the game. In Limbo, you just check how many rounds to play, and the game runs through them rapidly. Dice is pretty much the same, with the Auto-burst allowing an even easier way to auto-play through several rounds at once. The same applies to Plinko.
Crash and Spin (also called Thunder Spin and Casino Wheel) offer more advanced options. Both allow trigger conditions, like reset or multiply bet on loss, win, or simply when reaching max bet. Crash also has auto cashout included.
Are there any published RTP figures?
No. None of the games comes with any sort of information regarding this. And as these are originals, the information isn’t available anywhere else either, as the games are not available anywhere else but Thunderpick.
We did contact the customer service to find out, but they didn’t even seem to know what Thunderpick Originals are, or that these even existed in the first place. In fact, the agent in question didn’t even know what RTP is.
A lot to unpack here, none of which looks good for the originals. However, after some difficulty, we did receive some information that the RTP might be 98%. Don’t treat this as a final number, as there is no way to know for sure.
Do the game interfaces have minimalist, easy-to-use designs?
It’s as easy and minimalist as it is possible to make. Unfortunately, this is perhaps taking ease of use to the limit. Especially if you read the info above. There’s just not much information about how the games work, simply because not much info is needed.
Most of these games are simple in their design to begin with. If you’re at all familiar with games like crash, you’ll appreciate the fact that you can just jump in and start playing. And that applies to gaming on pretty much all devices.
How fast do the games run?
In our testing, the loading times were near instant. Only Plinko took a bit longer, and that is because it comes with a whole lot more graphics and animations than any of the other titles. As long as you have a working internet connection and at least a smartphone level device that can run a web browser, you are sure to be able to play these games just fine.
Which Thunderpick Original is best?
It’s Plinko. No question about it. Each and every other game is just a copy of the originals. They are by no means bad, but they don’t add anything to the genre at all. In fact there’s little reason to play any of them over any other similar game, other perhaps than to take advantage of any Thunderpick bonuses or promotions.
Plinko, on the other hand, takes the gaming entertainment a step further. This Thunderpick Original adds special portal symbols. If one of your balls goes through the portal, you enter the bonus round, although there is only one third of a chance of that actually happening, depending on whether the portal is open or not. You can move the portal yourself, and this affects gameplay. The basic idea is to add a special multiplier into the game, which can go as high as 10,000x the bet.
Summary
All in all, Thunderpick Originals seem like something that the casino deemed necessary for prestige reasons. ie: There are plenty of other crypto casinos having originals, therefore we should have a few too. This is quite evident from the fact that there are only a handful of these games, and almost all of them take the very basic form.
The general lack of information is a bit of a minus, too. The games are there, but there’s not much information about them. Not to mention that they don’t get any bonuses of their own. That’s not so surprising, as Thunderpick is more of an eSports betting site. To the point that they have organised their own 1 million USD Counter-Strike tournaments.
All in all, it seems a bit of a missed opportunity not to have made their own Originals that have something to do with their brand.
On the whole, the games are worth having a look at. However, you are probably best served by quickly moving to other sections of the casino lobby and playing other similar games that just do the job better. Or, indeed, looking further afield at other crypto casinos we’ve reviewed to see if their games are better.
Maybe Thunderpick will improve the Originals selection in future. For now, they’ll struggle to compete with other options like Roobet’s Original games collection.
