Theme & Design

Also known as the Alaskan brown bear, the Kodiak is a member of the family Ursidae that derives its name from its native habitat, the islands of the Kodiak Archipelago in southwest Alaska. In pop culture, its claim to fame is that it is one of the most massive bears in existence, reaching a weight of over 680kg, or 1,500 lb. Bart the Bear, who appeared in multiple acclaimed movies like The Bear, The Edge, White Fang, and Legends of the Fall, was a Kodiak bear.

As mentioned, this is somewhat of a sequel to Just for the Win’s November 2020 release Silverback Multiplier Mountain. That product focused on the most popular type of gorilla and quickly fell out of favor with players. Visually, Kodiak Kingdom uses the same presentation approach, featuring colorful painterly graphics. The background here is an Alaskan landscape that looks like something Bob Ross splashed on an empty canvas in twenty minutes. Two branches are swaying in the foreground and add a sense of depth to the scene, with the reel grid just behind them. There is virtually no music in the base game, which plays out during the daytime. 1980s-like rock kicks in during the Free Spins round when the sun begins to set, and everything gets a pinkish glow. Audio-wise, we quite fancied the sound effects of this slot. They were upbeat and matched the music in the Free Spins mode well. The Kodiak Kingdom slot will not blow you away with its design, but it is vibrant and pleasant to look at once you get spinning.

The base gameplay of this slot starts with an x1 multiplier, which gets increased by one each time a Multiplier Wild stops on the grid. Every base win gets multiplied by your currently accumulated multiplier. The multiplier counter resets between paid spins. Both the Multiplier Wild and the regular one appear only on reels two, three, four, and five.
