Big Fin Bay Slot Preview

GOSU GAME REVIEW

Set sail into the pixelated harbor of Big Fin Bay accompanied by the harpsichord music of old. Thunderkick’s new title, releasing at the end of March, is their entry into the popular theme of fishing slots. Going up against slots such as Old Fisherman (Gamomat), the Fishin’ Frenzy series (Blueprint Gaming), Pragamatic’s 2 newer fishing slots, Big Bass Bonanza and Fishing Reels, slots players have a lot to choose from.

Theme & Design – Specs & Gameplay

Big Fin Bay at first glance looks like a normal Megaways slot, and for the most part it is. The key difference players will notice is that the win lines are a static 5040 ways during the base game. Standard sybmols from 9-A and premium symbols of different sized mounted fish and a fisherman populate the reels as they fall in a randomized combination of 2,3,4,5,6,7.

During Base game and free spins, the goal is to hunt for the wild golden marlin symbol. Making a connection to the wild in the base game will cause the marlin to expand the full reel increasing the ways won up to the number of symbols on that reel for that spin. A random base game feature can trigger and feels very similar to Snake Arena’s (Relax Gaming) Wild Chase. The reels grow dark and a full reel of wilds can drop on up to 3 reels to create a big win.

Landing 3 golden anchors will award the free spins bonus game. The anchors will drop to award from 2- 6 spins each for a max of 36 free spins. As the Free spins start, players will notice that the bottom of each reel has a count of how many symbols are on that reel, accompanied by a lock. Landing a wild on any reel during free spins will cause it to expand the reel and trigger a Wild Respin. The wild stays held, the reel will increase its count by 1, and if the reel reaches 7 symbols the lock will unlock and grant 3 additional spins. Receiving max spins from scatters and unlocking all available reels brings the max free spin count to an impressive 51. Unlocking all available reels during free spins brings the ways to win up to 117649.

Verdict

As a huge fan of Thunderkick and fishing, I am excited for this new release. Big Fin Bay brings fishing back to a Megaways type slot that we haven’t seen since Fishin’ Frenzy Megaways. The combination of features that Big Fin Bay provides is fresh feeling while also keeping an old school feel with the art style and pixelated background. Overall, this slot has everything this player enjoys and I believe it will be a hit with many players upon release.
