You haven’t been around crypto long enough to know what we are talking about? Say no more! For those crypto rookies, that don’t yet know about it, Bitcoin Pizza Day is celebrated on May 22nd. And what happened that day to deserve a celebration?
13 years ago, on this very same day, a pizza was paid using Bitcoin. It is considered as the first transaction of a real-life item using this cryptocurrency. It was not paid directly using bitcoin. One bitcointalk user put in an offer asking for someone to order pizza for him in exchange for no less than 10.000 BTC. The exchange did finally happen, and in honor of this event, most of the crypto-related websites and services celebrate the day.
