The Ten Best Shooting Gambling Games
Everyone knows that the backbone of the online casino sector is slots and live dealer games, with RNG tables adding spice to the internet gaming experience but not bringing in massive revenues. The same goes for video poker and lotto-like options. These, more-or-less, serve the purpose of adding diversity to casino lobbies and are rarely a main attraction.
Shooting games, also known as arcaders, assume this role as well, attempting to appeal to younger demographics by featuring a higher level of interactivity. In most people’s eyes, this genre derives from the fish table concept, a gaming category born in China, played in arcades, sometimes for real money. These are games enjoyed on a screen pool-size table, with multiple gaming positions that boast joystick-like controllers. Players assume these and get/buy credits, represented as ammo, that they can use to shoot/destroy various aquatic beasts en route to monetary prizes. That is the gist of fish table action.
In the online sphere, game developers have taken this idea and transported it over, implementing many of the same principles, trying to appeal to players by seemingly giving them an element of control. Most of these fish table-like products get advertised as offering a skill aspect, meaning that through expertise, gamblers can lower the house advantage somewhat. However, the reality is that the degree to which they can do this is negligible. That said. Many believe they are more akin to video games than gambling products, ones where outcome generation is random. But the truth is that their underlining mechanisms of action are similar to the ones in slots because they also get powered by random number generators.
Still, that is not to say that shooting gambling games are not entertaining. Most of the titles in this category popped up in the last five years or so, and below, we run down what we think are the ten best ones. Note some of these are pretty hard to find, even at most of our best-rated crypto casinos. So, you may struggle in tracking down a few, as a minuscule number of sites carry them.
1. Fish Catch
Without question, Fish Catch by RTG is the most popular online fish table. It showed up on the internet in late 2018, listing a low-medium variance, an RTP of 91%, and a betting range of $0.1-$2.5. The max win here is x10,000, and Fish Catch works virtually identically to most physical fish tables. The game features twenty different species of creatures, including a purple-colored shark and a mermaid, each carrying a specific cash prize. At some sites, Fish Catch can offer two progressive jackpots, a minor and larger, which are both not impressive at all, and overall, this title is light on bonus features, as are most entries in this genre. Nonetheless, it looks good and is super playable. Hence, its attained popularity. Most hubs that house RTG (Realtime Gaming) products should have it.
2. Force of Dragon
KA Gaming is a provider we have mentioned a few times in our casino reviews. The KA in KA Gaming stands for Kick-Ass, and this is a company from Taiwan that has a monthly output of around six to eight products, focusing primarily on slots and shooting games. Thus, their titles will make multiple appearances on our list. Force of Dragon is a fairly new release from KA Gaming, unleashed in October 2021. It lets you choose a Bronze, Silver, or Gold room upon entry, and depending on the one picked, the bet sizes will vary. In the Gold one, they reach up to $10 (in credits). And in the Bronze, they drop to a penny. You can use lock target and auto fire options in this game with a 3D background but Gif-like creatures moving across the screen. It has an RTP of 94%, bonus symbols, and multipliers.
3. Zombie Bonus
PlayStar is another Asian brand based in the Philippines and Taiwan that came on the scene in 2015. Therefore, it should be no surprise that they dabble in the shooting fish table class. They have multiple games that fall into this categorization, but the one we like best is Zombie Bonus, mainly because of its charm. The mechanics in play here are not much different than traditional fish tables. The visuals have a different vibe, and the game lets you pick one of six battlefields with different level stake sizes. The extreme one is the most hardcore, with the most dramatic bets. Know that Zombie Bonus gets played on a vertical layout and is very reminiscent of early-2000s Flash games. It is a mobile-aimed product above anything else.
4. American Kombat
Gamatron is another provider we have talked very little about, if at all. They are also an Asian market-centered company, with around thirty products to its name. They released American Kombat in November 2021, and this shooter is very hard to find at gambling sites, chiefly because we have not seen many that house Gamatron games. It has a Contra vibe, a max prize of x2,000, and accepts wagers from $0.02 to $15.
5. Max Quest
Now, Betsoft is a name that likely every visitor of BTCGOSU recognizes. The famous Malta 3D slot provider was among the first to attempt to bring the fish table concept into interactive gaming, and they did so with Max Quest in October 2018. It has had three sequels so far, whose release date kept getting pushed back and is seldom available anywhere. The Max Quest series tries to transplant the excitement of RNG-based shooting into online casinos via a mummy theme. It has an RTP of 96%, medium variance, a max win of x1,250, and accepts single-shot bets of up to $0.25. In our opinion, the original is still the best of the bunch, with Dead Man’s Cove ranking in second place.
6. Space Cowboy
We said that KA Gaming would have multiple representatives on this list, and here is another one, Space Cowboys, which debuted in March of last year (2022). It is a 94% RTP game that also accepts penny wagers. It has an early 1990s Asian cartoon, fighting arcade machine graphics, paired with a Cowboy Bebop-style motif. The visuals here are on par with other KA Gaming products and a bit overly colorful, as is usually the case with fish tables.
7. Alter World
What is Alter World? It is another KA Gaming shooter that popped up at casinos four months before Space Cowboy. It attempts to cater to the Anime crowd visually but does not differ drastically from other KA Gaming releases in this genre in terms of gameplay and specs. The creatures you get to shoot at in this game are super varied, as it features dragon-style beasts, aliens, and creatures like the ones in the Avatar movie franchise, and there is even a fish wearing the Iron Man suit. No joke.
8. Space Hunter: Shoot for Cash
Playtech enters the mix. That is right, Playtech. Their contribution to the shooting game class comes in the form of a mid-2021 game named Space Hunter: Shoot for Cash. It boasts an RTP of 96.5% and a maximum prize of x5,000. By far, this is the most competently-made product on this list. It has a free spins-like round, a collect feature, and a supernova event, a spectacular in-game occurrence that destroys multiple ships in an affected area. Space Hunter has no auto-play function, but it can accept wagers/credit-loading up to $200, and the betting values per shot can vary from $0.1 to $1 here. Without question, Space Hunter: Shoot for Cash has a very Asteroids feel. We believe that everyone that has played the latter would agree.
9. Crazy Chicken Extreme
Here is a somewhat wacky entry from G.Games. They are an innovative provider that works with Yggdrasil, Microgaming, iSoftBet, and SG Digital, releasing multiple games per year in different genres, including lottery-style options. Crazy Chicken Extreme is an unexpected product from G.Games that showed up in September 2018, allowing credit loading of $20 with a maximum payout per chicken of $10. The title has an RTP of 98% and somewhat wonky 3D graphics. To children of the 1980s and 1990s, it is clear that Crazy Chicken Extreme strives to evoke nostalgia by facilitating Duck Hunter-like gameplay.
10. Special OPS
Not many military-themed gambling products exist in the online gambling sector. KA Gaming’s Special OPS makes no bones about imitating the visual presentation of the legendary run-and-gun game, Metal Slug, created by Nazca Corporation. The homages to it in Special OPS are plentiful, and in this dynamic title, you fight off against an evil army equipped with tanks encroaching on your lands. The bet values here drop to a penny. And as in most of the other discussed shooters, before starting a session in Special OPS, you must choose a mode that corresponds to the level of risk you wish to incur in your round, meaning how substantial wagers you are willing to make. In our opinion, Special OPS is one of the more worthy gambling shooters out there. It has an automatic fire feature and exploding bullets that keep its gameplay engaging enough.
