In the past, we have talked a lot about Relax Gaming. That is a Malta-based company behind popular games like Money Train and Snake Arena. We have those slots reviewed, by the way, if you want to check how we rated them. Well, Relax recently struck a deal with Print Studios for the latter to enter its Silver Bullet program. That means that Relax will aggregate Print’s content and distribute it on its partner platforms. Print is a relatively novel game developer. They have been in business since 2020, and so far, they have only released three titles, Crystal Golem, Book of Destiny, and the one we are looking at in this review, Royal Potato. It landed in online casino lobbies everywhere on December 1st, 2021, and is doing quite well. At the time of writing, it is in the top one hundred rankings in most markets.

Theme & Design

It is absurd to discuss the definition of potato and its history in a slot game review. However, that is the theme of this product, so we guess we have to provide you with a few words on this topic. You likely know what a potato is. Chances are, at some point in your life, you have tasted one, even if you are not a fan. Yet, did you know that the domesticated potato originated from the South American Andes over 8,000 years ago? In all honesty, if you are not a botanist, why would you? As you already know, the motif of the Print Studios slot is potatoes, of the royal kind. The game goes all-in on its theme, featuring music fit for a medieval kingdom’s court and images of plants that seem most noble.

The graphics here are painterly, and they depict a potato kingdom. No joke. The background is a slab of earth, with two potato knights standing watch. They might be statues of potato knights. We are not 100% either way, as both can be the same color.

All the buttons here are on the right side of your screen on a desktop computer. We quite like the configuration here. Everything related to the gameplay, like the spin/auto-spin buttons and the bet-adjuster, and the setting icon gets organized in the bottom right corner of the game window. The mute, info, and exit options are in the top right one.

Specs & Gameplay

Royal Potato is a five-reel, four-row reel-spinner. It has thirty paylines, and a medium-high variance. The game’s default RTP is 96.13%, and from what we can tell, operators cannot adjust it. The max exposure of this slot is x30,000, and its possible bet sizes range from $0.2 to $50. Wins here happen when you land three or more identical adjacent symbols on a pre-defined payline.

The low-paying symbols of this game are three different colored flowers and two distinguished potatoes. These pay x1.5 to x7.5 for five-of-a-kind. The high-paying symbols are two extremely upper-class, high-ranking potatoes and the queen and king. Hitting identical tokens from this batch will yield a reward in the range of x10 to x50 your wager.

The Scatter is a smiling prince potato, and if he appears five times on the reels on a single spin, you can win fourteen free spins. Three Scatters get you ten, and four, earn you twelve complimentary reel rotations. The Jumbo symbol, or Wild, is a common smiling potato, and he replaces multiple tokens, depending on their growth stage. He only appears in the free spins round.

Bonus Features

Between each reel of Royal Potato’s grid, there are three or four SuperSpinner positions. They are active in both the base game and the free spins round. However, they are not active on each reel rotation. They feature multipliers, and if a winning line crosses an activated SuperSpinner position, it gets multiplied by their values. If it crosses multiple ones, each SuperSpinner value gets applied in succession.

Landing the queen or king symbol may randomly activate the Royal Levy mode. When that happens, each instance of these symbols uncovers a random reward. It then gets multiplied by all SuperSpinner values on the grid.

If you hit three or more Scatters, you gain entry in the Free Spins bonus round. As discussed, three Scatters get you ten complimentary reel rotations, four get you twelve, and five get you fourteen free spins. Regardless of how many on-the-house rotations you get, each round begins with a sticky 2×1 Jumbo symbol. It plants itself in the middle of the grid and can replace several symbols indicated on a panel left of the reel grid. When highlighted symbols are a part of a winning combo, the Jumbo token grows, and step by step, more pay symbols get highlighted in the panel, providing tremendous odds for winning combos to form on every spin. The Jumbo token can expand to take up the entire grid. Each time the Jumbo potato grows, it provides an extra free spin.
