We mentioned Chests of Gold Power Combo in the Knight King slot review we recently posted. So, we thought, why not give our readers the low down on this game too? Looking back on our content library, we can see that we have only analyzed one All41 Studios game, Solar Wilds. It is under our Microgaming category since this developer is an exclusive Microgaming partner. Know that All41 is a Tallin-based company that boasts long and deep ties to Microgaming that go back to before its launch, as its management has a history with this Isle of Man juggernaut. It got established in 2019 and so far has created around thirty slots. Their most popular game is the one reviewed here, Chest of Gold, which hit casinos everywhere on March 28th, available at select sites since the 15th of this month. It is doing Okay globally, ranking in the top hundred most-played games in multiple markets and even entering the top ten in some, like Hungary.

Theme & Design

The theme here seems to be the Middle Ages, with a Robin Hood-type twist. Though, it never directly gets said that this is a Robin Hood game. As everyone reading this likely knows, mister Hood is a heroic outlaw depicted throughout English folklore as a thief that famously stole from the rich and gave to the poor. The first instance of his tale sprung up around the 13th/14th century AD. And in modern retellings, it often gets cited that his rise to fame among English people came after Robin arrived home from the Crusades, only to find his lands taken away, forcing him into the outlaw lifestyle. Many Robin Hood-inspired slots exist, and based on our research, we came up with the number fifty. The most famous of these, at the time of writing, is Fire Archer from Pragmatic Play, with the rest of the titles using this motif failing to rank significantly anywhere.

Audio-visually, this game is on par with products from higher-end developers. The crispness and quality of the painterly graphics here surprised us, especially the level of detail in the character and background images. A few animated elements, like leaves, grass, and flags, wave and give a sense of dynamism to the forest and castle settings in this slot base and bonus gameplay. The music used in Chest of Gold is decent, and what we particularly liked about it is that it has a medieval vibe but remains unobtrusive, chiefly acting as background fodder. The audio effects toe the line with the mood the soundtrack sets, so overall, we have no complaints about the presentation here. Some may call it a bit static, but we think it works, and it is not in your face, allowing you to enjoy the gameplay on hand. In truth, this release is super similar to Kings of Crystals that All41 Studios put out in February 2022.

All41 Studios has arranged the buttons in a vertical stack here, starting with the bet adjuster, then moving to the auto-spin and spin functions, and the setting and home icons on the top of the five-button tower. Left of the semi-transparent grid, the game’s four jackpot rewards get listed, and at the bottom of the screen, your bet/win/balance information lies.

Chest of Gold utilizes a 5×4 layout in its base game with forty betways. The betting range here moves from $0.2 to $20, and the max exposure is x11,650. All41 Studios has set the variance here at high and the hit frequency at 38.79. The RTP of this game ranges from site to site, but its default one is 94.25%.

Wins in this slot get provided when three pay symbols or two main character tokens hit on a betway. Five low-value ones supply prizes of x0.75, and the premiums x2.5 for five-of-a-kind combos, not counting the David Bowie lookalike, which gives away rewards of x5 for five instances of his face materializing on screen.

Bonus Features

When you land a chest symbol, you trigger the free spins mode but note that this happens randomly. A red one can activate this mode with five on-the-house reel rotations and nudging wilds. A green one triggers ten free spins paired with an opportunity to win a jackpot, and a blue one gives five gratis spins with up to an x10 multiplier on each rotation. Nudging wilds play a role in the red chest spins, where the grid expands to six rows and 100 betways. The wilds here are stacked, and when they appear, they nudge their reel to show target W wilds on all six positions. If a scatter lands during this round, it adds extra free spins.
