Shaman’s Dream Slot Review

GOSU GAME REVIEW

As far as we can recall, we have never reviewed an Eyecon product on our site. Well, the time has come to do so. We will kick things off with one of their most popular titles ever, Shaman’s Dream. Before we get into this reel-spinner, we feel that we should say a word or two about this lesser-known game provider. Established in 1997, it took two years for this Australia-based company to switch over to the online side. In its over two-decade existence, Eyecon has managed to churn out over 120 online slots, and in 2017, it came into the Playtech fold. Although, it still runs as an independent provider.

Shaman’s Dream hit online casinos in June of 2016, boasting very outdated visuals. However, that has not stopped it from frequently residing in the top 50, as it currently does. Below, we will discover if this spot is well-earned or not.

Theme & Design

The theme of this game is Native American culture. American Indians, also known as the First Americans, are the indigenous peoples of the United States. Today, there are 574 federally recognized tribes, most of which practice shamanism, which involves altered states of consciousness. The relationship between it and Native American culture is strange, as the word shaman is not a Native one and has no origins within Native American culture. It derives from Siberia, from the language of the Tungus people. It translates into – one that works with fire. According to the Tungus people, a shaman is an explorer, teacher, warrior, healer. He is the most respected individual in the tribe.

The visuals here consist of 2D graphics. They have a cartoony feel and are a bit clumsily painted, with the backdrop being a faded landscape at sunset. Wooden sticks frame the reel grid, which has a grey background. Each reel gets separated by a wooden stick, and some of the symbols have a slight drop shadow that makes the game give out a very early 2000s website vibe. Presentation-wise, this slot is super-disappointing and not up-to-snuff to most modern reel spinners.

On a desktop, the three main buttons are on the right side of your screen. The stack begins with the bet/payline adjuster. Above it are the spin and auto-play buttons. There is an info bar at the top of the game window, and it displays the credit, win, and bet information. To the right of this data is the three-bar icon that opens the settings tab, which houses the mute option and the help page.

Specs & Gameplay

Shaman’s Dream is a five-reel, three-row slot with twenty-five paylines. It is a medium variance title with a below-average RTP of 95.436%, with bet sizes that range from a penny to $12.5. The most you can win spinning these reels is a prize worth x9,500 your stake. Given the max bet option, that is also below average. Wins happen in this game when you land two to five identical symbols on adjacent reels starting from the leftmost one.

The low-paying symbols of Shaman’s Dream are a totem, a pair of axes, a neckless, and a bear. They pay x4 for five on a line. The high-paying symbols are a knife, a wigwam, a white buffalo, an eagle, an Indian woman, a chief, and a warrior. Landing five identical tokens from this batch will get you a reward that ranges from x5 to x380 your wager.

The white wolf is the Wild. He substitutes all other symbols except the Scatter. When he is a part of a winning line, all prizes get doubled. The dreamcatcher is the Scatter. Hitting five on a payline will provide a win that is x18 your wager.

Bonus Features

The main attraction of Shaman’s Dream is the Free Spins Bonus Round. You enter it when you hit three or more Scatters, which gets you fifteen complimentary reel rotations. You can reactivate this round up to a maximum of fifteen times. Here, you also benefit from an x3 multiplier on all wins formed during this mode.

To win the max prize of 9,500 your stake, you need to fill the reel grid will only white wolf Wilds. If this happens during the Free Spins Round, the max exposure will jump to x28,500 your stake.

GOSU Verdict

What can we sum up about Shaman’s Dream before rendering a verdict? Well, in all aspects, this is a rudimentary slot. Its gameplay is straightforward, it only incorporates one bonus feature, and all of its specifications are average to below-average. Eyecon has a reputation for catering to female players, and this title falls in line with most in their portfolio. If you have grown accustomed to playing slots from top-end providers, stay away from this one. It is underwhelming. Thus, its popularity must stem from promotional tie-ins or finding a home at sites that only accept players from specific regions, ones that host a handful of games. It is not quality that has gotten it this far.
