Sweet Bonanza Candyland Game Show Review

GOSU GAME REVIEW

Lovers of Pragmatic Play slots will know Sweet Bonanza well enough. The popular slot game is one of the flagship titles for this renowned slot developer. However, Pragmatic Play also started dipping its toes in the live dealer casino game industry a few years back. They have been steadily pumping out an array of games to match rivals and counterparts, Evolution Gaming, and others at crypto casinos.

In a bid to win the wheel-based game show war, Pragmatic Play decided to take their Sweet Bonanza slot and transform it into a big-buck paying wheel-based game. Sweet Bonanza Candyland is the result of those efforts, and we’re going to take a closer look at what Pragmatic Play is offering Bitcoin bettors at crypto casinos here with this review.

Theme and Design

On the face of it, Pragmatic Play’s Sweet Bonanza Candyland doesn’t look much different from any conventional wheel-based live dealer title. Like many of those other game show releases, there is a giant wheel in the center of a studio, and you can expect to see a host of numbers present. However, unlike rivals such as Dream Catcher, there are also a few Sugar Bonus segments that can sweeten the deal.

You’ll also get hosts controlling the action. Boys in snazzy old-school attire and girls in bubble-gum pink and baby blue 50s frocks are the norm in this tasty title. As you may have guessed, much of the action involves spinning the wheel to see what sugar-coated treats are going to come your way. The cherry on top? Sweet Bonanza is cheap as chips and offers prizes worth hundreds of thousands of dollars and their equivalent in BTC, ETH, and other cryptocurrencies.

Specs and Gameplay

As touched on, Sweet Bonanza Candyland works in largely the same way as other Pragmatic Play, Ezugi, and Evolution Gaming developed fortune wheel games, at least in terms of the base game. Think Dream Catcher, and you’ve almost got it. The bonus elements are where things really perk up and where Sweet Bonanza Candyland really stands out from the crowd.

Stakes cost between $0.20 and $3,000. There is a varying RTP in this release, and at one point, it may dip as low as 91.15%. That’s hardly going to fill live Bitcoin bettors with delight. What might do is the prizes. Bagging a win on Sweet Bonanza Candyland isn’t going to be quite like stealing candy from a baby, but you can snap up prizes worth up to 20,000x a bet, capped at $500,000 if you strike it lucky.

There is a side-bet in the game, and that is known as the Sugar Bomb Booster. This is an optional side bet, and it will cost 25% of your main bet. It will double any multipliers won during the conventional Sugar Bomb Round, which we’ll look at in just a moment.

There are simple betting options to choose from here and over twenty languages to bet with. You’ll only have eighteen seconds to place your bet, so you’ll need to be somewhat on the ball. You can bet on 1x, 2x, 5x, or 10x. Naturally, these will pay 1:1, 2:1, 5:1, and 10:1 if the spinning wheel stops on them. There are more 1x segments than 10x segments on the wheel, as you’d expect.

There are a few other segments to discuss. These include the Sugar Bomb Booster, Candy Drop Bonus, Sweet Spins Bonus Round, and the Bubble Surprise Bonus.

Bonus Features

Now, let’s look at the many bonus features found in this wheel-based game.

The Sugar Bomb Booster will see a multiplier (2x up to 10x) selected. The wheel will then be spun again (for free). If the fortune wheel stops on a segment with a cash prize (and it is your cash prize), you’ll win the increased multiplier. However, if it lands on the Sugar Bomb Multiplier, it will add another multiplier into the mix before being spun again. Note that players who have placed a side-bet can prosper from multipliers worth twice the value. If the wheel stops on a bonus segment after the Sugar Bomb Multiplier is decided, the winnings in the bonus round will be offered the same Sugar Bomb Multiplier.

If the Bubble Surprise round is activated, you’ll be met with a one-reel slot containing five numbers. This wheel will now spin, and it will offer you a prize based on whatever is chosen. Prizes range from 5x for a blue candy to 10x and 25x with purple and red candies. You can also initiate the Candy Drop Bonus or Sweet Spins bonus from here.

The Candy Drop Bonus Round segment takes you to an RNG (random number generator) game played against a wall. In the Candy Drop Bonus Round, you’re going to need to choose one of three colored candies. Each candy will drop into a four-level chocolate board, much like pachinko, before falling into a pocket. Candies will nab multipliers as they fall down the maze. Your candy will only collect any multipliers it hits if they are an identical color. It will eventually land in one of the pockets at the bottom, with that candy’s multipliers being added to your balance.

Finally, we have the Sweet Spins Bonus Round. This is another RNG casino bonus, played on a 6×5 slot. Here, there are no paylines, with the game preferring a Tumbling Reels mechanic and engine. You’ll receive ten free spins, and you can win more by landing three (or more) lollipops on the reels. Multiplier Sugar Bombs can boost what you win by destroying eight or more symbols. In effect, this is much like the free spin bonus found in the original Sweet Bonanza slot.

GOSU Verdict

Pragmatic Play’s Sweet Bonanza Candyland is something of a surprising release. For all intents and purposes, this live casino title initially looks like a sugar-rich but ultimately drab and dreary version of Dream Catcher. Another one of many clone games out there. The RTP can dip low sometimes, but you’re getting more than enough bounce for your buck here. However, once you look beneath the wrapper, you’ll find that this is a game packed with sweet goodness. It’s packing a punch through four bonus rounds, and prizes can reach astronomical amounts while stakes remain low. We won’t hesitate to recommend having a crack at this tasty release at all our recommended Pragmatic Play crypto casinos.
