Naturally, this game show title is a wall-based title, and if you think about the original Snakes and Ladders game, it is nothing short of nuts that nobody has thought of tackling this game before – it is ready-made for the gambling world. Well, now it’s out there, and we were eager to have a crack at the game and reveal all. Here’s what you need to know about Pragmatic Play’s Snakes & Ladders live casino game.
Theme and Design
Pragmatic Play is really trying to draw on nostalgia with this release. They haven’t opted for flashy images and neon lights. Instead, Snakes & Ladders takes place in front of a cartoony, comic-book-like backdrop. Your host stands to the sides of a wall, which features a host of squares, ladders, and, of course, those slippery snakes. Naturally, a lot of what Snakes & Ladders has to offer relies on RNGs (random number generators), but that’s okay – most game show titles do in some regards.
Specs and Gameplay
Snakes & Ladders makes use of four dice, and upon those sit special symbols. These include diamonds, stars, and two bonus emblems – the Snakes & Ladders Bonus and the Snake Totem Bonus.
You can choose to use chips that are worth anything from 0.1 up to 500 in value and can double your bets using the X2 button. Betting options include diamonds, stars, stars and diamonds, Snake Totem, and 2, 3, or 5 rolls on the Snakes & Ladders Bonus.
After placing their bets, players will see the dice rolled. If two or more dice show the same star and diamond icons, then a payout is guaranteed. If the dice show two of the Snakes & Ladders Bonus symbols, then a fifth dice is used to determine whether that bonus will take place at a Bronze, Silver, or Gold Level. To trigger the Snake Totem Bonus, you’ll need at least a trio of dice to showcase that symbol.
Assuming you have landed standard paying symbols, then you’ll win whatever figure happens to appear on the paytable. That appears below the bets, and the amount you can win is dependent on what you stake, as you can see once you’ve bet.
Bonus Features
Once the Snakes & Ladders Bonus has been triggered (which occurs once in every 5 or 6 games), the 8×8 game board kicks into gear. You’ll then get to try and make your way to the top of the board to win prizes by climbing ladders. Watch out for those snakes, though, as they will see you drop right back down. The idea is to try and land your winnings before that occurs. Make it to the top, and you can walk away with a cash prize worth around 10,000x a bet. The better the “tier”, the more you can win.
The second bonus round is the Snake Totem feature, and according to our research, there is a 1:21 chance of this being triggered. This is played over several levels, and each level has its own prizes. Once more, the idea is to progress through the levels, bagging bigger and better prizes as you go. Prizes can be found on the Snake Totem to the right of the wall, which supports multipliers worth up to 100x, although most payouts hover at around 2x up to 20x.
Both rounds involve nothing but pure chance. However, if you want to win serious money when betting with cryptocurrencies on Pragmatic Play’s Snakes & Ladders, you’re going to need to try and land either of these. Obviously, the Snakes & Ladder Bonus has more to offer than the totem-inspired feature.
GOSU Verdict
This is the second Snakes and Ladders-inspired game to come from Pragmatic Play, following on from 2022’s Snakes & Ladders: Snake Eyes and the Snakes & Ladders: Mega Dice slot. Those games have little in common with this dice-based live dealer game, though.
Admittedly, the base game isn’t as well thought out as it could be, but the real action occurs once you get to navigate those slippery snakes and lengthy ladders. Childhood nostalgia and gambling with cryptocurrencies are two things we didn’t really think we’d be bunging together, but the combo works wonderfully here. We’d strongly recommend having a stab at this legendary game.
