Monopoly Live Game Show Review
There are few bigger board game brands than Monopoly. Having acquired the rights to lease the game in cooperation with Hasbro Inc, Evolution Gaming set about improving their money wheel, game show genre of live casino games. Monopoly Live is the result. Yes, there are many similarities with their ever-popular Dream Catcher game, but Evolution has also woven a few new things into the mix when it comes to Monopoly Live.
Like all their game show releases, Evolution Gaming has been clear from the start the host runs this game. They will not only spin the wheel but also keep players entertained with light banter and chit-chat while the game is played out. If you’re interested in discovering what happens when you combine live casino games such as Dream Catcher with the world’s most famous board game, read on to learn more.
Theme and Design
On the face of it, Monopoly Live looks a lot like Dream Catcher and Crazy Time, two other Evolution wheel-based games, albeit with a substantially larger wheel. Set amidst a Monopoly backdrop, with an animated Mr. Monopoly beside the wheel (he’ll jump into gear at times), the HD cameras zoom in on the wheel when relevant and zoom out when the host is busy keeping you entertained.
Below the main feed, there is a conventional betting board that wouldn’t look out of place in any of Evolution’s other money wheel games. Monopoly Live is streamed from Latvia and permits gameplay on mobile devices and with cryptocurrency stakes, too. Gameplay is predominantly available in English.
Specs and Gameplay
Monopoly Live may look like Dream Catcher and Crazy Time, but it doesn’t necessarily offer the same type of gameplay. There is a huge wheel partitioned into fifty-four segments. You are free to bet on any of the segments, including 1, 2, 5, and 10. Unlike Dream Catcher, there are no twenties or forties to bet on here. The wheel also contains a few special sections, known as Chance, 2 Rolls, and 4 Rolls. You can’t bet on those.
Bets in Monopoly Live will stretch from 0.10 up to 2,500.00 a spin (dropping to 1,000.00 a spin in some live casinos), making it well suited for low rollers and high rollers alike. Once your bets have been made, the game commences, and the wheel is given a spin.
If you successfully land on a 1, 2, 5, or 10 spot (and your bet is on the same segment), then you will pocket winnings worth 1x, 2x, 5x, or 10x your bet. Note that there are more 1x spots than 10x spots, as is customary in these games. The RTP is set to 96.23% in this live casino game.
However, if the Chance, 2 Rolls, or 4 Rolls segments are selected, then Monopoly Live’s bonuses come into play. This is just as well because the game would be a little dull without them. After all, they are what get you close to the $500,000 non-progressive jackpot that Monopoly Live has to offer. Let’s look at those next.
Bonus Features
First up, we should discuss the Chance segment. If the pointer lands here, every player will receive a cash prize or a multiplier against their total stake. This is essentially a free cash win and is not to be sniffed at.
If the 2 Rolls or 4 Rolls segments come up, something radically different happens, which tries to incorporate elements of the classic board game into the gameplay. Gameplay will move to a special Monopoly board, where the host will roll dice two or four times, depending on what was hit.
Those dice rolls allow you to move around the Monopoly board, and Mr. Monopoly will dive out of his chair to help. If the dealer rolls a double, you’ll get an extra roll. As you progress around the board, you can snap up multipliers based on the various properties. However, landing in jail would require a double roll to avoid terminating the round (and its goodies), while passing Go automatically doubles what has been acquired this far. Once you’ve run out of rolls (or don’t roll a double to escape jail), the multipliers will be applied to the next winning number. With hefty multipliers, it is possible to win up to $500,000 in this game or its equivalent in cryptocurrencies.
GOSU Verdict
The addition of the Monopoly bonuses makes all the difference. Without this, Monopoly Live would be a Monopoly-themed version of Dream Catcher and arguably a worse game because of the absence of 20 and 40 betting segments. However, it does have those bonuses. Moreover, the Chance segment means that everybody could scrape together a rather tidy bonus prize without effort or side-bets.
Because you don’t need to wager anything extra to prosper from these Monopoly bonuses, the game is quite appealing. It is the perfect blend between live casino and RNG (random number generator) action, and its widespread availability makes it a must-play game at fiat and crypto casinos alike.
