Theme and Design

Pragmatic Play’s Mega Roulette debuted in 2021 and features a very stylish, modern game show theme. There’s an air of the Who Wants to Be a Millionaire game show studio about this release, all of which help it stand out from a pack of roulette games that are far more conventional in appearance. Appearances aren’t everything in roulette games, though.

The second in Pragmatic Play’s “mega games” range, after Mega Sic Bo, this one is actually quite similar to Azure Roulette. There is an emphasis on doing this differently in this release. While the betting windows are larger than life on the screen, the gameplay presentation has more in common with a TV show than a proper casino classic.

We don’t want to deflate the game by saying that it looks better than it plays. However, there is an argument to be made for that. The live dealer game tries to perfect an already perfected concept (albeit in Evolution’s Lightning Roulette), and that’s never going to be easy. All the gorgeous aesthetics in the world won’t change that. Read on to see what we mean more clearly.

Specs and Gameplay

Mega Roulette is based on European Roulette, and you can expect to see an RTP of 97.30% in this game. Like most European Roulette games, the house edge is reasonable, with the wheel featuring thirty-six pockets and a single zero. The betting window is moderate in this game, and stakes can stretch from $1.00 up to $5,000.00 a pop. This doesn’t make Mega Roulette the cheapest live roulette game you’ll find online, but it is far from being the most expensive.

After betting, this roulette game begins like any other. In fact, you can win in just the same way as you would on any conventional European Roulette game. However, straight-up bets aren’t treated as kindly here. Ordinarily, they would pay 35:1 in any conventional European Roulette game. However, in Mega Roulette, they are set to just 29:1. We’re not impressed with that. Straight-up bets should pay 35:1 every time. Anything less just feels like robbery. Of course, that alone doesn’t seem to make it worthwhile calling this Pragmatic Play game Mega Roulette. There naturally must be a few added perks to spice up the action. Without them, this game would be a worse version of European Roulette than you can already find online. So, what’s the crack?

Unlike some other roulette games, there are no side bets in this Pragmatic Play live dealer release. However, this doesn’t mean to say that you won’t find any added features there. There certainly are some if you know where to look. See what we mean below.

Bonus Features

If you’ve tried your hand at games like Azure Roulette or Quantum Roulette, then you may have an idea of what to expect here. However, if we had to liken this game to any other, it would be Evolution Gaming’s Lightning Roulette. Why? Multipliers. Allow us to explain.

On every spin, the dealer will choose five pockets at random. These are then given Mega Multipliers. They will be worth between 50x and 1,000x. Just like Evolution Gaming’s title, the multiplier will only apply to straight-up bets. However, unlike that game, the multipliers won’t “multiply” your winnings. They are straight-up multipliers against your bet. In short, if you win with a straight-up number, you won’t pocket 35:1 x the multiplier, or even the lowly 29:1 prize, as mentioned above. Instead, you will win a fixed prize of 50x to 1,000x whatever you have wagered.

At the same time, there are a few other things worth discussing – Mega Bets, for a start. When you opt to use these, a series of bets will be played. For instance, if you choose Mega Dozens, twelve numbers will be chosen as straight-up bets. If you choose Mega Columns, a column will be chosen for you to bet on. Mega Chance is an interesting option, as it allows you to place even money bets. The purpose of these is that it allows you to boost your chances of landing the Mega multipliers by placing strategic bets on various numbers on the wheel.
