Theme and Design

As with other lotto-style games from Evolution Gaming, this one takes place amidst a gold and black backdrop, with two bingo balls constantly rotating and spinning a host of balls. Your game show host stands between them. Holding a microphone, it will be them that call the action as the game begins.

Like any lottery game, you’re encouraged to buy a ticket to the action ahead of time. Once you’ve got your ticket, you can sit back and watch those numbers roll out. As with any lotto game, you’ve got to be in it to win it. Lightning Lotto allows you to purchase up to 500 tickets at any one time. Fortunately, you won’t have to check the numbers. Much like you’ll find with online bingo and keno games, the game will scan the tickets automatically for winning entries. Unlike conventional lotteries, the cost of tickets varies, and that will, in turn, determine how much you can win. You can use a feature to purchase one ticket or bundles of 25, 50 or 100 tickets.

Lightning Lotto requires you to match as many numbers on your ticket as possible. Each ticket features five numbers ranging from 1 to 25. Furthermore, there will be a Powerball number of between 1 and 10. Naturally, this is way fewer numbers than your conventional lottery, so your chances of winning something are better than usual.

The game begins with two ball machines. The first one features twenty-five numbers, while the second has the ten Powerballs inside it. Six balls are drawn in each game – five from the first machine and one Powerball number from the second. These make up the winning numbers in each draw.

To get a win, you’re going to need to match at least three numbers. The prize for achieving this is a modest 1:1. If you land four numbers, you’ll win 49:1. Five number matches see you win a prize worth 499:1. All six numbers will see you pocket 4999:1. However, these payouts can be increased.

The most you can win is capped at 100,000:1, and to bag that prize, you’ll need all six numbers and a 20x multiplier. How do you get the multiplier? That comes via a bonus feature, which we’ll explain below.

Bonus Features

As touched on earlier, this is a Lightning game, so as you’d imagine, lightning multipliers were always going to come in somewhere. In reality, they occur during the draw itself. A total of two numbers will be selected at random to become Lucky Numbers. These have multipliers which range from 2x to 10x.

If your ticket has a number on it that has been “struck by lightning”, then your entire ticket (or rather, anything you win on it) will be boosted by whatever multipliers apply. If you had both numbers, then you’re going to see those multiplied against one another. Therefore, if two of your numbers are 10x Lucky Numbers, you’ll multiply your winnings by 20x. It is this feature that can see you win the immense sums mentioned.
