Lightning Dice emerged during a window when Evolution Gaming was unveiling all sorts of new titles to see what stuck. Before they cottoned on to how to produce a live craps game, Evolution gave us Lightning Dice. It follows the same basic principles as several other games from this developer. You can bet on numbers (like Super Sic Bo) and prosper from the Lightning modifier found in games such as Lightning Baccarat and Lightning Roulette.

As one of the games where having access to HD cameras is of paramount importance, there is a lot of emphasis on “action” in this game. One of the few snags when developing a dice game is how to keep it entertaining. After all, we’re talking about betting on the outcome of dice. However, the use of transparent tubes, bumpers, and funnels alongside HD cameras that follow the action, coupled with multipliers, has allowed Lightning Dice to become something of a fan favorite, and you can wager on the game with both fiat and cryptocurrencies today.

Theme and Design

Lightning Dice incorporates the best elements of Evolution’s Lightning Games and weaves them into conventional number-betting gameplay. The host stands in a dimly lit room, where the only source of light comes from the tunnels and funnels that the dice must catapult down before the result is announced. A large Perspex cabinet contains all sorts of mechanisms and obstacles for the dice to travel down before the result becomes known, adding excitement to a game that initially looked devoid of it.

The game is streamed out of a few locations, including Latvia, Malta, and the United Kingdom. As mentioned, there are plenty of HD cameras, and they automatically follow the dice on their travels. The gaming layout is as straightforward as you will find in other Evolution Gaming developed live casino titles, with a series of betting options and “Lightning Numbers” visible below the screen, above your chip sizes. Specs and Gameplay

Like Evolution’s Super Sic Bo, three dice are in play here. However, while that game allows you to bet on the outcome of individual dice (as most Sic Bo games do), there’s none of that in Lightning Dice. Instead, you are solely betting on the total of the three dice when they come to rest. Of course, this limits the types of bets you can make.

You can bet on totals of three up to eighteen, with the payouts available varying depending on your selection. Bets, including five, seven, eight, ten, eleven, thirteen, and fourteen, pay less than their counterparts in Sic Bo, so that is worth considering. However, Sic Bo doesn’t have the Lightning element that Lightning Dice does, and we’ll explain that more and in-depth in just a moment.

Maximum bets in Lightning Dice can vary, but the game always has a fixed minimum stake of 0.20 a game. Once your bets have been made, the dice will be sent on their merry down, tumbling down the various apparatus to their eventual end. If they match up with a bet that you’ve made, you’ll pocket a win.

Successful bets on 10 and 11 can see you win 5x your stake. Bets on 9 and 12, 8 and 13, or 7 and 14 can yield wins of 6x, 7x, and 10x your bet, respectively. A winning bet on 6 or 15, 5 or 16, or 4 or 17 results in wins of 15x, 25x, and 50x your bet, respectively. Betting on 3 or 18 is the most prosperous (but least likely to occur), with prizes of 150x up for grabs.

There are twenty-seven possible combinations of 10s and 11s; therefore, the probability of this occurring is 12.5%; thus, the payouts are low. By contrast, there is only one way to land a 3 or an 18 (1-1-1, or 6-6-6), and with a probability of 0.463%, the payouts are naturally high.

Bonus Features

Thus far, we haven’t mentioned the Lightning aspect of the game, so let’s do that. This is where the action can really heat up.

Before the dice start taking their tumble to the bottom, a “bolt of lightning” will “strike” the Perspex chamber. The smoke and mirrors scene will add multipliers to one or several possible dice combinations and be displayed below the screen. Bets ranging from 8 to 13 could have a multiplier of up to 50x applied to them. Bets on 6, 7, 14, and 15 could be met with a maximum multiplier of 100x. 5s and 16s, and 4s and 17s have maximum multipliers of 250x and 500x, respectively. However, bets on 3 or 18 could have multipliers worth up to 1,000x applied.

If your bet matches one of those number totals that has been “struck by lightning”, your win will be magnified by the amount stated, and at no extra cost, no less.
